Kristopher Karolkiewicz Murder-Suicide: Amanda Karolkiewicz and Six Children Killed in Michigan Family Tragedy

The Grand Haven Township, Michigan, community continues to mourn after authorities identified Kristopher Karolkiewicz, 47, as the man responsible for the deaths of his wife, Amanda “Mandy” Karolkiewicz, 39, and their six children in a devastating family murder-suicide.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the family members were found inside their home after authorities responded to reports of smoke and a fire on July 24, 2026. Investigators determined that all eight family members died from gunshot wounds. Authorities said Kristopher subsequently died by suicide and that fires had been intentionally started inside the home.

Amanda, who was known as Mandy, was a substitute teacher, mother and children’s author. Her obituary describes her as a compassionate person with an infectious laugh and a strong commitment to her students and family. She had married Kristopher in 2009.

The six children ranged in age from 5 to 15. Their deaths have added to the grief surrounding the tragedy, with family members, friends, classmates and community members remembering them individually and mourning the loss of an entire family.
